At sixteen, a skiing accident changed everything. One moment I was an athlete with dreams of varsity sports; the next, I was trapped in a cycle of chronic pain and muscle spasms so severe they triggered even when I laughed. Specialist after specialist couldn’t solve it. I stayed active as best I could, but my athletic future had slipped away. Then, as an undergraduate at the University of Waterloo, I walked into Dr. Stuart McGill’s class on lower back rehabilitation. For the first time in years, someone explained the mechanisms behind my pain. More importantly, he showed me the path out. Dr. McGill’s scientific, compassionate approach didn’t just end my suffering - it ignited a calling.
My journey to becoming a physiotherapist took me places I never expected:
Teaching English in South Korea Running healthcare programs in Aklavik in Canada’s Northwest Territories Consulting on ergonomics everywhere from welding factories to hospital operating rooms
Each experience deepened my understanding: bodies don’t exist in isolation. Movement, environment, nutrition, lifestyle - they’re all connected.
This philosophy crystallized during my time in cardiac and respiratory rehabilitation, where our interdisciplinary team achieved the best functional and bloodwork outcomes for cardiac clients in Canada. We spent 2-4 hours assessing each person, then built individualized programs integrating exercise, nutrition, and lifestyle changes. Watching people transform through this comprehensive approach showed me what healthcare could be. I pursued extensive training in nutrition, earning my designation as a Registered Orthomolecular Health Practitioner and Nutrition Network Advisor.
For years, I ran Wozniak Home Physiotherapy, serving everyone from seniors to athletes to MVA clients across Kingston. But something was calling me back. When I heard Dr. McGill on prominent health podcasts - Andrew Huberman and Peter Attia - that fire from my undergraduate years reignited. The man who had saved me decades earlier was still setting the standard for spine care worldwide.
I returned to train directly under Dr. McGill, this time not as a desperate patient but as a practitioner ready to master his methodology. Today, I’m the only McGill Method Practitioner in Eastern Ontario, and I’m working toward becoming one of the 10-15 Master Clinicians in the world.
Since 2016, Kingston has been home for my wife, our two sons, and me. I’ve lived on both sides of chronic pain - as the patient who thought recovery was impossible, and now as the practitioner who guides others through it. Whether you’re struggling with back pain that hasn’t responded to treatment or seeking to optimize your performance, I bring lived experience, world-class training, and a comprehensive approach to help you reclaim what pain has taken.
